Day 3 : Strasbourg

We received from the Strasbourg Tourist Office 2 free Strasbourg Passes. These are the ideal way to visit the city, and only cost 12,40 € (retail value is at least 35 €, if not more). We used our Passes intensely. The first day we went up the platform of the Cathedral (wonderful view) and the second day we rented a bike to visit the town. Bicycles come free with the Strasbourg Pass, and you can even get a bike seat for your child.

We first cycled to the European buildings: the Council of Europe, the European Court of Human Rights, and of course the European Parliament. Since it was a Sunday the Parliamant was not open, but we still enjoyed checking out the architecture. We cycled on to the Orangerie, a beautiful park where there are loads of storks on top of the main building.

In the Strasbourg Pass it also gave a reduced entry ticket to the Astronomical Clock in the cathedral. We cycled there but unfortunately it is not open on Sunday (which they failed to mention in the Pass). So we just kept on going, cycling to the Jardin Botanique, the Observatory and then along the Ill over the old remains of the medieval fortifications. A great place to spot muskrats by the way :)

After taking the bikes back, we went back to the hotel to relax a bit and eat taboulé and tortilla wraps. Afterwards we went to different museums. The archeological museum (disappointing because poorly presented) and the historical museum (nice but far from being completed).

In the evening we went to a great Japanese place called Fujijama where they had a sushi buffet for 16,50 €. Tempura, maki, sashimi and lots more. Our daughter loved it as much as we did.
